After Dr. Sportelli successfully completed this ACGME intern year, he felt a true calling to master the intricacies of the human mind, behavior, understanding the complexity of mental illness and its modern life-changing treatment options. He then began his four-year Residency Training in General Psychiatry at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Sportelli seeks to dispel the myths and stigmas of mental illness and addiction to provide his patients with the most up-to-date, clinically relevant treatment options, including pharmacology as well as psychotherapeutic interventions. He is active in the media, co-hosting the popular TV show “The Doctors CBS” as well as many other news and media outlets. People who know Dr. Dom, “he seeks to help his patients to lead better, healthier, happier, well-balanced lives through education, therapy, and pharmacological treatment, he truly cares about his patients.” Dr. Sportelli was and remains very involved in academic medicine through publishing his research (recently presenting at the American Psychiatric Association International Conference), teaching residents and medical students at New York Medical College, and serving on the advisory board for New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
